Let's Answer Some Common Concerns...
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Fairfax Physical Therapy different?
Since 1992, we've done things the way we believe they should be done — one patient, one therapist, one uninterrupted session. Every appointment runs at least 45 minutes, so there's real time for hands-on techniques like myofascial release and craniosacral therapy, not just a few minutes squeezed between other patients. You'll see the same licensed therapist every visit, because consistency is what actually gets people better.
Do I need a referral to start physical therapy?
Yes. In Virginia, most patients need a physician's referral before beginning physical therapy. Just give us a call if you have questions. We'll be happy to answer and guide you through the process.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit includes a full evaluation — your history, your goals, and a hands-on assessment of how you're moving. From there, we build a treatment plan tailored specifically to you, not a generic protocol. You'll leave with a clear picture of what's going on and what we're going to do about it.
What techniques do you use?
Alongside customized exercise programs, we specialize in specific manual techniques — including myofascial release and craniosacral therapy — designed to reduce pain and restore function at the source, not just manage symptoms.
Will I see the same therapist every time?
We strive for you to see the same trained professional throughout your care. We believe that continuity is essential to real, lasting results.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows your therapist to assess and treat the area in question without restriction.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept Medicare and TRICARE, and we are able to bill most private insurance plans (excluding HMOs). As a courtesy, our administrative team will verify your insurance benefits before your first visit and explain any expected out-of-pocket costs, so you'll know what to expect. If you have questions about your specific plan, just give us a call—we're happy to help.
How many sessions will I need?
Every patient's path is different. Your therapist will give you a realistic timeline after your evaluation, based on your specific condition, goals, and progress along the way.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours notice so we can offer that time to another patient in need. Missed appointments will incur a $50 fee.
